PPB Tactical Team Apprehends Wanted Man

On Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at approximately 6:05 a.m., officers from East Precinct were alerted to a vehicle that had eluded deputies with the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO). The vehicle, possibly connected to a series of burglaries, crashed in the area of Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Flavel Street. A female inside the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. A male inside the vehicle fled into the surrounding neighborhood.

The Portland Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to assist with the search for the wanted man. Several blocks of Southeast 82nd Avenue were closed during the search that was conducted with the help of K9s, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drones), and PPB’s fixed-wing plane. At approximately 11:20 a.m., during the methodical search of the area, SERT members located the suspect hiding in a vehicle and apprehended him without incident. CCSO took custody of the suspect and will provide additional information when appropriate.
