Update: Shooting Incident Determined to be Murder-Suicide

The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Officer's office has determined two related family members died yesterday in what appears to be a murder-suicide event.

William O'Connor, age 52, died as the result of homicide by gunfire. It is believed his father, Michael O'Connor, was responsible for his death.

Michael O'Connor, age 78, died as the result of suicide by gunfire.

The investigation is concluding based upon this information. Other family members have been notified of the deaths.

Help is available for community members struggling from a mental health crisis and/or suicidal thoughts. Suicide is preventable.

On Monday, May 4, 2020, at 7:37 a.m., North Precinct Officers responded to the report of two subjects shot in a residence in the 13600 block of Northeast Milton Street.

Officers located two male adults shot at the location. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The firearm believed to be involved in the incident was recovered.

The involved males were known to each other and there is no identified on-going risk to the community.

Detectives with the Homicide Detail responded to the scene to assist. They are working with the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office on this case.
