Volunteer as a Summer Youth Connect Career Coach

 

HAVE FUN AND HELP YOUTH THIS SUMMER!

 

WANTED: Caring adults to volunteer as Career Coaches to accompany local students on real-life learning experiences this summer. 

A Great Coach for the Summer of 2010 will:

 

  • Be willing to share experiences from your personal and professional development


    Dedicate one day a week for five consecutive weeks to accompany a team of students visiting career and college sites


    Help students understand and reflect on their learning


    Participate in a volunteer orientation and training


    Pass a criminal background check

    Summer Youth Connect is partnering with Ninth Grade Counts to target at-risk, incoming 9th graders with the support they need to start high school on the right track.  Ninth Grade Counts is an initiative of the Portland Schools Foundation and represents a network of summer transition programs focused on academic support, enrichment, and career/college exposure.
